Announcing the Retirement of Darcy Cormack
At the April 15 Regular Board Meeting, Darcy Cormack, Assistant Superintendent of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Anti-Racism and liaise Assistant Superintendent to the Dakota Collegiate and Nelson McIntyre Collegiate Families of Schools, as well as the International Student Program, Louis Riel Arts & Technology Centre, and the René Deleurme Centre, announced her intention to retire effective Sept. 1, 2025.
Darcy joined the St. Vital School Division, one of the Louis Riel School Division’s (LRSD) legacy divisions, in 1990 as a Grade 2 teacher at Minnetonka School. She moved to Lavallee School in 1992 and was a dedicated advocate for the primary multi-aged classroom program. Darcy participated in the International Teaching Fellowship in 1996 at Apollo Parkways Primary School in Melbourne, Australia. She returned to Lavallee School in 1997.
Darcy decided she wanted to take on a new challenge, and in 1999, she accepted a Student Services position at Darwin School. In 2002, Darcy transitioned into the role of Vice-Principal at Minnetonka School. She held multiple leadership roles before being appointed Assistant Superintendent of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Anti-Racism in 2021.
Over the past four years, Darcy has guided our diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism initiatives. She has led a collective effort to develop comprehensive policies and programs to address systemic inequities and promoting a culture of belonging.
Darcy is a life-long learner and teacher. After completing her Bachelor of Education at the University of Manitoba (U of M) in 1989, she pursued a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Special Education in 2000 at the U of M. She completed her Master of Education at U of M in 2005.
Darcy has contributed to the LRSD community for more than 35 years. On behalf of the SLT, I wish her all the best as she moves toward a well-deserved retirement.
